The decolonial turn is an unfinished project of global order that examines other forms of knowing, power, and being. In this article, we present the theoretical contributions of Haitian intellectuals Baron de Vastey, Anténor Firmin, Louis-Joseph Janvier, and Hannibal Price to the decolonial turn. The contributions of these authors were not limited to denouncing the falsifiability of the nineteenth-century concept of human "races", but they also thought about a new conception of human being that encompassed enslaved peoples. Analyzing the contributions of these authors, we perceive some clues that allow us to think that their works are precursors in critical theories of colonization.
