This study analyzes the phenomenon of domination exercised by armed groups that are socially recognized as factions in the periphery of Fortaleza and its metropolitan region. This is an analysis based on qualitative data, with a theoretical and methodological treatment inspired by a comprehensive sociological perspective. We observe how the phenomenon of drug factions has permeated the peripheries, creating a process of domination with diverse social effects on the daily lives of its residents. The results reveal a situation of political and moral borderization that has repercussions on mobility, social relations and economic activities developed in the territories where drug factions operate.
