Abstract

The reflexivity about the use of analytical schemes is an indispensable practice for social scientists who intend to refine the conceptual tools mobilized and advance the task of apprehending social phenomena. In this paper we propose to discuss potentialities and limits of the use of certain models and concepts to the study of elite segments in Brazil. As a central axis, we discuss the Bourdieuian notion of field to think about research dimensions that can be covered, possible adaptations and flexibilities, considering distinct empirical contexts and universes. From this and based on accumulated researches and reflections, we have gathered some guidelines and notions, such as those of domains and multi-notabilities, which seem pertinent to the analysis of configurations marked by plasticity and indifferentiation of logics, principles and roles. Keywords: Elites, Fields, Domains, multi-notabilities.
