Abstract

This paper presents the results of an analysis of the scientific production of the last 10 years (2008-2018) about the so-called “youth delinquency”. The analysis aimed to understand what are the problems
associated to youth and violence and how such issues have been addressed by the academic community, from studies empirically located in countries such as the USA, France, Mexico, England and Brazil. The bibliographic survey was conducted in Brazilian and international journals of excellence classified in the areas of anthropology / archeology and sociology, according to the Qualis CAPES evaluation system. The survey was limited to journals available in Portuguese, Spanish, French and English that focus on studies on youth, law enforcement and violence. A total of 289 articles were systematized that, through different theoretical and methodological approaches, addressed issues related to immigration, mass incarceration,
ethnic-racial conflicts, youth gangs, drug trafficking and police violence.

Keywords: Youth delinquency. Violence. Youth. Law enforcement.
