Abstract

The article investigates education based on György Lukács' philosophy, focusing on the ontology of social being and the category of totality. The objective is to understand the school as a social complex that simultaneously participates in the reproduction and transformation of historical relations. Methodologically, it is based on a direct reading of History and Class Consciousness, Ontology of Social Being, Prolegomena to an Ontology of Social Being, and Aesthetics: The Peculiarity of the Aesthetic. The results indicate that categories such as work, praxis, ideology, reification, and omnilateral formation make it possible to analyze education beyond the instrumental view. It is concluded that pedagogical practice, by integrating science, art, and ethics, can confront estrangement and broaden historical consciousness, keeping alive the commitment to human emancipation.
