Abstract

This article presents a doctoral research focused on Astronomy Education in Elementary School, aiming to overcome science teachers’ previous conceptions about celestial phenomena. Based on the application of the Theory of Didactic Transposition and Model-Based Teaching, didactic sequences combining theory and practice were developed and implemented. Continuing education with teachers was central to the effectiveness of the methodology, resulting in significant improvements in both understanding of astronomical concepts and pedagogical practices. The results indicate that the use, exploration, and construction of concrete and virtual models is a powerful approach to enhancing Astronomy teaching.
