This article Investigates how theatrical techniques can expand the strategies for reading literary texts In high school through the creation of characters and the staging of school plays. To this end, we present some reflections on the relationship between the theatrical techniques proposed by Boal and Spolin and the advantages of the reading performance proposed by Zumthor. This approach was used In an Intervention project consisting of workshops and a play with texts by Ariano Suassuna In a school In Bahia, highlighting the importance of theatrical techniques for the construction of stage characters. These experiences followed the protocols for reading dramatic texts In groups, exploring body language and voice Intonation In order to expand the meanings of the staged texts.
