Abstract

The article presents an analysis of a Portuguese as a Welcoming Language (PWL) course for migrant deaf individuals. The objective is to discuss how the Post-Method, as the current paradigm in additional language (L2) teaching, permeates the didactic material and the classes held at a public university in Roraima. Methodologically, the analysis has a qualitative bias, considering both internal perspectives (participant observation) and external perspectives (critiques from teachers who did not attend the classes). The study is theoretically grounded in research on L2 teaching methods/approaches and Post-Method, which we aim to position within an emerging field of Applied Sign Linguistics (or Applied Linguistics for Sign Languages).
