Abstract

In the second half of the 19th century, pharmacists stood out in Brazil in pharmaceutical activities. Among them, Eugênio Marques de Hollanda from Piauí, with the manufacture of medicines in Rio de Janeiro in his Flora Brasileira Laboratory and for his influence with the pharmacists' causes for greater legitimization of the area. Therefore, this work analyzes the activities of Eugênio Marques de Hollanda, in the field of pharmacy between Piauí and Rio de Janeiro in the second half of the 19th century. The methodology used involved the analysis of memoirs and bibliographic readings by authors such as: Carvalho (1942); Edler (2006); Pereira Neto (2001); Velloso (2007).

PhD in History from the Fluminense Federal University and a Master's in History from the Federal University of Pernambuco. Federal University of Pernambuco. She is currently Associate Professor IV at the Federal University of Piauí.
