Abstract

This analysis seeks to contribute to recent approaches to sexual identities, motivated by the exhaustion of traditional homonormative and binary models. The São Paulo Gay Pride Parade is taken as an example of the movement to fight for alternative identities for citizenship. The hypothesis adopted is that, despite the breakdown of traditional paradigms, LGBTQIA+ individuals are still struggling to the affirmation of their rights to citizenship. As general objective, the notions of sexual identities are approached, in the aspects of Hall (2011) and Cuche (1999). As category of specific objectives: (i) to relate sexual identities and power; (ii) verify the historical views of the homosexual subject; (iii) identify the conceptual limits of hetero and self-identity in the lives of homonormative people. The results achieved are in line with the hypothesis raised, showing that, despite a significant advance in the field of rights, social practices continue to discriminate  the LGBTQIA+ community.
