Abstract

In order to revisit Mauricio Tragtenberg's sociological critique in the field of communication and popular struggles, we discuss the foundations of libertarian and anarchist communication as principles for analyzing capitalist mediation and mediatization. To this end, we recover from Tragtenberg what he characterized as: “the emergence of electronic mass media”, “their mobilizing potential in a new productive process” and the “contradictions inherent in the structure of the media”. Postulates that have an impact on the analysis of digitalization and social datafication, and arguments for the defence of popular communication and critical propaganda for social transformation.
