Abstract

This article presents a reflection on how Algerian women organized themselves politically during the period of the Argelia War of Independence (1954-1962). For this analysis, the work “L’An V de la Révolution Algérienne” [1959] by Frantz Fanon will be used as a historical source to understand the role of Algerian women in the anti-colonial struggle. In conjunction with Fanon's work, the work of Algerian historian Djamila Amrane (1992) and the theoretical contribution of Marnia Lazreg (2019) will be analyzed. We will then see in this work what the forms of organization of women activists were during the Algerian Revolution, among them Djamila Amrane, Djamila Bouhired, Zohra Drif, Samia Lakhdari and Hassiba Bem Bouali.
