Abstract

Abstract: This text appears as the result of a series of debates about understanding how we think and how we use the tool of discourse analysis in historiography, and what its practical applicability is in relation to a historical source, in this specific case, a comicbook . The story selected was the work Kingdom Come , written by Mark Waid and illustrated by Alex Ross, originally published in 1996. The work became a classic of superhero comics, causing a significant impact on subsequent productions, being constantly far fetched and re discussed. By analyzing the work and the speeches given by its characters, through the eyes of its authors, we can identify, problematize and bring to light the debate of different issues, which question the comics industry itself, and the political moment during which the work was published, thinking about practical and existential issues of the work and its authors. In addition to the methods, it is necessary to understan d how the work is thought of as a source, and how its analyzes th rough discourse analysis contribute to historical knowledge.
