Abstract

This article aims to address the relationship between History and Culture, focusing on the context of the Cold War and favoring heavy metal as a musical style that emerged in the midst of the conflict. To do so, we performed an overview of the English and North American scene, in which these artists and metal bands were inserted between the end of the 1960s and the following decade. The intention is to point out the main events and issues that permeated both realities in the proposed period and how this impacted on the emergence of metal at the time.
