Abstract

The article discusses the black female presence in the Chamber of Deputies, focusing on the legislatures of 2014, the first in the history of Brazil to contain the self-declaration of color/race of the candidates, and of 2018, with the largest female bench in the story. Data were collected from the TSE, Cfemea and Diap, in addition to interviews with four black female deputies. The results showed that the intersection of race and gender remains a major electoral disadvantage not overcome with the victory at the polls, remaining in the daily life of parliament.
