Abstract

This article analyzes the presence of the impacts of the Cold War in Brazil, bearing in mind the understanding that the processes in that context rose political and social structures, in which the disputes and narratives of the past maintain a relationship of continuity. To this end, we will examine how, through the Alliance for Progress, the United States, in the face of disputes with the Soviet Union, approached Brazil and, more specifically, the Northeast region in order to create conditions for the expansion of liberal ideas, ending up strengthening obsolete structures that remain quite solid until today.
