Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effects of a Creative Dance and Expressive Movement intervention on Body Image, Self-Esteem and Aggressive Behaviors in female prisoners. It was assumed that the prison is an educational institution due to the transversality of the social practices developed there. The method was quasi-experimental randomized with a quantitative approach, using the instruments: Bruchon-Schweitzer Body Image Questionnaire, the Rosenberg Self-Esteen Scale and the Buss-Perry Aggressiveness Questionnaire. A qualitative approach was also carried out through a content analysis. The measured scores verified a favorable average of the total body image, however, the quantitative results indicated a non-significance. Regarding self-esteem, the average detected ratified low self-esteem and data found were not significant. Regarding aggressiveness, the data indicated a significance in hostility. Regarding the qualitative analysis, all variables were significant. The final data suggest further studies with a larger sample and a quantitative approach.
