About the Journal

Focus and Scope

Revista Cajueiro was created within the scope of the actions of PLENA - RESEARCH GROUP IN READING, WRITING AND NARRATIVE: Culture, Mediation, Graphic Presentation, Publishing, Demonstrations.

Its primary mission is the dissemination of research, actions, policies, good practices, as well as the debate of ideas about the formation of readers and the culture of reading in Brazil, with an emphasis on Information Science.

Its main objective is to add knowledge to Information Science and related areas, socially contextualizing the contents and also establishing the debate and the approximation of the academy with society and its segments, the professions aimed at reader training and the production of readings.

The target audience of Revista Cajueiro is made up of academic researchers, professors, librarians, documentalists, archivists, information professionals, managers and directors of information systems and units (Libraries, Library, Archives, Reading Points, Cultural Centers), editors , as well as teachers, educators, reading therapists, storytellers, and social and political leaders linked to the dissemination of reading practices and the strengthening of the reading culture.

The topics in view for publication in Revista Cajueiro are: Documentation and Information Management; Reader Training and Reading Culture; Editorial History and Culture; Public Reading and Reading Policies; Reading and Literacy Mediation; Graphical Sequential Narrative under analysis; Graphic Sequential Narrative on Display; Interdisciplinary Theme in Information Science.

The formats accepted for publication in Revista Cajueiro are: article, essay, interview, review, experience report, biography, tribute, letter, opinion paper, review or review. The maximum limit for originals is 15 pages (21,000 characters). Images are released, as long as they are credited to their authors or holders of dissemination rights.

The lines of research linked to Revista Cajueiro, practiced in the production of PLENA, as well as registered in the CNPQ Directory of Research Groups, are:  Reading Mediation, Graphic Sequential Narrative, Documentation Science, History and Editorial Culture.

The submission of content to Revista Cajueiro is regulated by its own Rules, Policies and Codes, available for consultation and use at any time and time, on this SEER platform.

Peer Review Process

The works will be submitted for appreciation by the Editorial Board of the Journal, which, upon prior opinion of the Advisory Board, will accept or not the publication, through the peer review system, double blind review, blind review (WHEN THE MAXIMUM DEADLINE FOR EVALUATION IS OF 90 DAYS - from the date of submission of the text). Arbitration may also be applied as a means of evaluating and resolving disputes over article submission. All articles must be submitted in Word format (.doc or .docx) using the formatting template available in the journal's top menu. The texts must be ORIGINAL ARTICLES (UNPUBLISHED) or REVIEWS. Papers must be written in technical language, with a minimum length of 12 pages and a maximum of 15 pages.

Frequency

Revista Cajueiro is published every six months. Its scheduled publications are in the months of May and November.

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge.

This Journal of Open Access in the field of Information Science (Revista) is committed to the ethics and quality of its publications. Thus, this code explains the Policy on Ethics in Publications and Declaration of Improper Procedures in Publications, which will be applied to this publication.

Standards of ethical behavior are pursued by all parties – actors – involved in the publication in our journal such as the author, the journal editor, the reviewers, ad hoc committees and evaluators, members of the scientific and editorial boards. Among the practices not acceptable by the journal are plagiarism and self-plagiarism, changes only to titles in previously published articles, fraudulent or intentionally inaccurate statements and other undesirable practices.

Editors' Duties

 


Publication decision: The journal editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published, after the decision of the reviewers who are chosen by the double blind review method. The editor is guided by the journal's editorial board policies and in strict compliance with legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may consult the editorial board or collaborators when making decisions. The Editorial Board is made up of academic representatives from different teaching and research institutions and different regions in the country and abroad. Each member of the editorial board is also responsible for the role of ombudsman for the scientific community working in the area, ensuring academic credibility and the posture expected from a scientific journal.

 


Fair Rules: The editor must evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content, without distinction of race, sex, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, nationality, or the authors' political philosophy and without conflict of interest.

 

 

 

Confidentiality: The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the author, reviewers, potential contributors, other editorial advisors, and the editor, as appropriate.

 


Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: The editor must not use unpublished information in their own investigation without the express written consent of the author. The editor must refrain from evaluating manuscripts in which there is a conflict of interest resulting from competitive or collaborative relationships or any other type of relationship or connections with any of the authors, companies or (possibly) institutions that are linked / connected to the articles. The editor will not be responsible for evaluating an article of its authorship, even in co-authorship. The journal editor will be able to publish articles of his own work in this journal, without being blindly evaluated by his peers.

 


Participation and cooperation in investigations: The editor must take reasonable response measures when ethical complaints have been made in relation to a submitted manuscript or published article.

 

 

 

Fundamental errors in published works: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in their own published work, it is the author's obligation to immediately notify the editor of the journal or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the article. The editor must withdraw any article from the journal, if the author so wishes and expresses himself, within a period of up to 10 days.

 


The editor may accept the publication of an unpublished article, provided that within it, he/she has indicated the source of its first publication and the due authorization of the previous Publisher, especially when the article has been published in print and commercial.

 


Duties of Reviewers

 


Contribution to the Editorial Decision: Blind peer review helps the editor in making editorial decisions and through editorial communications with the author can also help the same in improving the article.

 


Punctuality: Any selected arbitrator who does not feel qualified to evaluate research reported in a manuscript or knows that prompt review will be impossible must notify the editor and excuse themselves from the review process within fifteen (15) days.

 


Objectivity Standards: Reviews must be conducted objectively and reviewers must express their opinions clearly with supporting arguments in accordance with the review forms they receive when blindly submitting the article for review. When sending the editorial decision and if the author wants to have access to the evaluation form, it will be forwarded, however without the identification of the evaluator, for reasons of confidentiality and ethics.

 


Duties of Authors

 


Compliance with the rules for candidacy of articles to Revista Cajueiro, explained in the Norms, Policies and Codes.

 


Respect for current scientific production, avoiding plagiarism, self-plagiarism and untrue research. Respect for the commissions and teams responsible for editing the periodical.

 


Verification of observations and monitoring of publication conditions and timely response to requests from the editorial team.

 


Article Processing Fee

The journal does not charge authors fees for processing their texts.

Governance Policy

The Editorial Board is made up of academic representatives from different teaching and research institutions and different regions in the country and abroad. Its members work preferentially, but not exclusively, in the area of ​​Information Science. Each member acts as an advisor to the Scientific Committee and the Editor, interpreting and suggesting improvements in the Editorial Policy, disseminating the journal, positioning itself as an arbiter in strategic issues of the involvement of Revista Cajueiro in the academic and professional milieu. Each member also assumes the role of ombudsman for the scientific community working in the area, ensuring academic credibility and the posture expected from a scientific journal. Scientific Committee: this is an inter-institutional collegiate whose work is done collectively and democratically. Its mission is to ensure the credibility of the editorial procedures adopted and assume scientific responsibility for the journal. The Scientific Committee appoints the Scientific Editor, who becomes its natural member. This committee must be permanently active in complying with the general definitions of the journal's editorial policy and also with the planned editorial procedures, particularly with regard to guaranteeing the consistency and quality of publications. Special editions and other scientific contributions should be discussed and defined by this body. It is their duty to discuss and develop their own regulations for various subjects such as: rules and formatting of articles; criteria for evaluating and accepting texts for publication; acceptance of new research groups to join the committee; budget approval; accreditation of reviewers and referees; definition of circulation and subscription policy, among other matters. The Scientific Committee does not interfere in the editorial operation, which is the responsibility of the Editor and its operational team. Scientific Editor: responsible for the editorial management and supervision of the Editorial Secretariat, which operates the entire workflow, with the help of the Open Journal System – OJS system. The Scientific Editor has a specific role in the prior selection of articles submitted to the journal, in the control of Plagiarism and Self Plagio in various databases, and also in the distribution of articles among reviewers (double blind peer review method). The scientific editor must have an active posture in the work of the Scientific Committee and in the articulation of actions by the Editorial Board.
